Pest Management
Bensenville Pest Management is the control of insects, disease, weeds and other pests through environmentally sensitive practices. The Village has developed a diverse program in order to manage a large scope of pests. Our programs encompass the following management programs: turf maintenance, sustainable landscaping, tree preservation, mosquito abatement, and more.
The Village is limited in its ability to respond to calls about wildlife and dead animals. In most cases residents should call an exterminator or pest control service provider. The University of Illinois Extension and Illinois Department of Natural Resources have developed a very informative website called Living with Wildlife in Illinois. Residents can find answers to numerous wildlife related questions on this website.
The Village has approved ABC Humane Wildlife Control & Prevention Inc. for wildlife nuisance control on private property. The Police Department will continue to respond to those type of complaints and to complaints from residents regarding dogs, cats, and animal abuse situations. To better assist residents in addressing wild animal nuisance problems on private property ABC Humane Wildlife Control & Prevention Inc. has been identified as providing professional services at the lowest cost to Bensenville residents. ABC Humane Wildlife Control & Prevention Inc. will charge a private resident directly for the trapping and removal of raccoons, skunks, opossums, squirrels, rabbits, groundhogs and foxes. If a dead animal is in the street or on your parkway, you can report it here under the Report a Concern tab, however, the Village is unable to retrieve dead animals from private property. For dead animals in a backyard, residents should call an exterminator or pest control service provider.
The Village of Bensenville takes a proactive approach to rodent control to ensure the health and safety of our residents. Alongside enhanced enforcement of property maintenance and control measures within public alleyways, the Village offers a free rodent mitigation program for incorporated single-family residential properties that wish to install bait stations on their private property. The Village of Bensenville contracts with Clarke to provide mosquito control services in the Village. Clarke uses a comprehensive program providing surveillance of the mosquito population, larval control, and adult mosquito control to help minimize mosquito populations to prevent nuisance mosquitoes and help suppress any outbreaks of West Nile Virus. This program closely follows the recommendations of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines and uses products registered with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
