Beginning December 21, 2015, the FAA began requiring that every drone operated within the U.S. be registered with the agency before a drone is flown outdoors.
Even recreational and hobbyist operators of drones MUST register their drone before its first flight. Registration costs $5 and is valid for 3 years.
