[ARCHIVED] Allied Waste Flood Damaged Materials Pick Up

Allied.jpg

Allied Waste will be picking up all normal garbage and recycling April 24, 2013 as normally scheduled. There is a possibility that Allied Waste will not be able to remove all of the flood damaged materials today and if that is the case, they are scheduled to return April 25, 2013 for a second pick-up to remove the rest of the debris. Please make sure to follow the normal procedures for garbage pick-up such as:

Bulk items that do not fit in refuse carts may be placed at the curb (or in the alley if your area has alley collection) for pickup. Bulk items include sofas, tables, mattresses, box springs, bookcases, dressers, standard sized televisions and large appliances. Tires, large car parts, and vehicle batteries, and tires cannot be collected.

In order to be collected, carpet must be cut into five-foot lengths and securely bound with tape, rope or twine in rolls or bundles. Rolls and bundles of carpeting must be no more than two feet in diameter and weigh no more than 50 pounds. Loose, unbundled carpeting can be collected at an additional charge by a special pickup by advance arrangement.

HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE
Materials such as paint, pesticides, poison, cleaning solvents, gasoline, used oil, and other automotive fluids are considered Household Hazardous Waste. Flammable, toxic, corrosive or reactive products should not be included with your regular refuse for disposal. For information on options for disposal of these items, please contact the DuPage County Household Hazardous Waste Hotline at (630) 407-6760 or check the "Waste and Recycling" section of the DuPage County website at www.dupageco.org/building.
