Aircraft Noise Complaints

Aircraft noise complaints can be made to the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) for tracking purposes and will be included in their Airport Noise Management System reports.

There are two official ways to submit a complaint:

  • VIA PHONE: To submit a noise complaint via phone, please call the CDA’s noise hotline at 1-800-914-8537.
  • VIA ONLINE: The City of Chicago utilized their 311 system to track airplane noise complaints. To submit a complaint online, please click the link below.

Does my home qualify for sound insulation?

The City of Chicago utilizes the FAA’s 65 DNL Noise Contourto identify the homes most impacted by aircraft noise. Many homes within the 65 DNL noise contour are eligible to take part in the City of Chicago’s Residential Sound Insulation Program. Each home must also meet additional eligibility criteria as established by the City and the ONCC.
