Pressure Adjusting Station Replacement
BACKGROUND
The Village of Bensenville started receiving Lake Michigan water from the DuPage Water Commission in May 1992. The entry point for the potable water obtained from DuPage Water Commission Station is located at 130 N. Church Road. The Village has one Pressure Adjusting Station (PAS), which accepts water from the DuPage Water Commission at 120 PSI and then reduces pressure to 60 PSI. The water is pumped and conveyed from the PAS to the Bensenville Community Water System system and storage facilities. The PAS distributes approximately 500 million gallons of water a year.
This facility was constructed in 1990, and all the equipment and components are nearing the end of their service lifecycle. The current facility is a subgrade facility with accessibility issues due to its confined space classification. Moisture issues make the environment unsuitable for mechanical components, creating a corrosive environment for all equipment and components.
